Which Exam Is Better—SBI Clerk or SBI PO?


The State Bank of India conducts the SBI Clerk Exam to hire candidates for the position of Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) at its many branches around the country. The exam is open to all citizens of India. In today’s world, SBI Clerk is one of the most sought-after bank jobs, with a large number of individuals applying for the position on an annual basis. The State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to post the SBI Clerk 2022 Notification with all information on its official website on April 20, 2022.

SBI PO or State Bank of India Probationary Officer exam is an annual officer recruitment exam administered by the State Bank of India for a variety of positions across its numerous branch locations.

Every year, millions of people sit for the SBI Clerk and SBI PO examinations conducted by the State Bank of India. Earning high scores in these tests opens doors to the coveted bank. However, the position, tasks, and duties are very different for candidates that clear both exams.

To be eligible for the SBI Clerk and SBI PO position, applicants must pass the preliminary and main examinations. Candidates who clear the preliminary exam but fail the initial test will have to sit for the preliminary test again to qualify for the mains exam. There will be no deduction for incorrect answers in the exams. However, candidates must complete the exam within a specified time limit. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted personally. 

Additional information about SBI PO 

  • Salary: Rs. 8.2 lacs to Rs. 13.8 lacs per annum based on CTC. The employee will be eligible for D.A. and other benefits, depending on the regulations in effect at the time.
  • Responsibilities: Providing excellent customer service, generating new business, managing cash flow, making timely payments, and keeping reports.
  • Promotions: After 2-3 years of joining.
  • Work schedule: Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
  • Allowances: Rental housing, medical allowance, traveling allowance, among other benefits.

  • Salary: Starting salary of Rs. 13,075 per month.
  • Responsibilities: Underwriting, claims processing, account maintenance.
  • Promotions: Internal exams help clerks further their careers.
  • Work schedule: Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
  • Allowances: Housing allowance and provident fund, among others.

The main exam for both SBI Clerk and SBI PO now includes sectional timing and a variable marking scheme that was previously unavailable.
